Sonoma's Fourth of July on the Plaza and fireworks display is a small town festival that makes you feel proud to be an American. Kick off the day with a parade featuring marching bands starting at 10am. There is a "water section" at the corner of 1st Street East and Spain Street for those who wish to get soaked by the fire truck at the end of the parade as no entries are allowed to have water balloons or to spray the crowd.
From then on you'll find a lot to entertain at the Sonoma Fourth of July on the Plaza including live music, games, and a chance to hang out in Sonoma's historic plaza. Don't forget to try a hot dog or some apple pie.
At dusk folks head on over to the large field in back of the former estate Restaurant or in front of General's Vallejo's Home, whichever way you want to see it. Both are a block west of the Sonoma Plaza on Spain Street. The show is about a 1/2 hour long and always peaks at the end. Highly recommended, true Americana, bring a picnic, cooler, flashlights and sweaters.
