Summer Baking: Sweet & Savory


Relish Culinary Adventures’ favorite pastry chef Shelly Kaldunski is back to lead a fantastic baking class featuring the flavors of summer. Chef Shelly will lead guests as they make these scrumptious baked goods, some sweet and some savory, learning classic, practical baking techniques along the way.

Chef Shelly will start with an introduction to basic baking concepts and demonstrating pâte à choux dough for gougères, cream puffs, profiteroles, etc. Guests will then pipe the individual gougère puffs. Participants will create the other menu items, using a combination of hand-mixing and Kitchenaid mixers.

This class features baking activities like learning how to adapt crêpe batter for both sweet and savory uses, making perfect galette dough (way easier than tart dough), and creating a classic yellow cake batter for upside-down cake. Not only are these particular items relatively easy to make, they are all incredibly versatile. So once you learn the techniques, you can adapt and combine flavors, ingredients and variations for infinite seasonal options! Participants will taste and savor all the items at the end of the class with a glass of wine.
